9th Grade Classes
Computer Fundamentals- This is a class taught by Mrs. Viki Davis. We are learning how to use multiple softwares, beta test different apps, set up websites, prepare for the SAT, learned to work social media, develop awareness campaigns, learn graphic design, and most importantly, how to use our time to not only do something we love, but to get something out of it as well. Thanks Mrs. Viki!
World Geography- This class is taught by Coach Timmerman. We do multiple projects (drawing and coloring flags, drawing and labeling maps, writing synopsis on foreign countries), have CLH quizzes to help refresh our memory of past history classes, and continue moving forward with geography with chapter test over the world around us. We also, once finished with a chapter, take a day to watch Planet Earth, which helps us get a good grasp on what we have just learned. Thanks Coach Timmerman!
Euclidean Geometry- This class is an advanced placement class taught by Mrs. Azalee. Geometry is math dealing with shape and this year we have learned many area formulas, the quadratic formula, volume formulas, angle placement equations, how to work and use graphing calculators, and how to plug in all the formulas we memorized and actually use them, and so much more! We also have done projects, such as math magazine, review what we had learned last quarter! Thank you Mrs. Azalee!
English I/ Lit- This is a English and Literature taught by Mrs. Cantrell. In this class we have enhanced our grasp on grammar, read many classic and inspiring novels (Romeo and Juliet, Antigone, Ethan Frome, Tale of Two Cities, Of Mice and Men, and Animal Farm), many short stories, literary terms we will use the rest of our educational careers, and have learned to obtain the most knowledge out of a piece of literature. Thank you Mrs. Cantrell!
Composition- This class is also taught by Mrs. Cantrell. Composition is a class where we learned to write to the best of our abilities, express how we feel through our writing, how to work together with many different personalities, and to be mindful of how you word things along with grammatical facts and how to set up a term paper. Additionally, in this class, we wrote and preformed a radio show, which was very challenging and fun at the same time! Thanks Mrs. Cantrell!
Physical Science- This course is taught by Mrs. Linda. In this class we learn the basics of physics, so that if we choose that as an elective we will already have some knowledge, and to teach us many different things by hands on experiences. Here, go though a chapter section by section, test over each, sum all of them up and have huge chapter test, and then finish the lesson up by either doing a lab or writing a synopsis. We also do projects, such as break the book down down and teach a section per group. Thanks Mrs. Linda!
10th Grade Classes
Computer Science- This class is taught by Mrs. Vicki Davis. We are learning how to collaborate across the world online through the 2013 Net Gen Project and the Flat Classroom Project, prepare for the SAT, creating movies and videos, and my favorite part of the class, is our Genesis Project that allows us to put class time toward something we really care about, and learn something from it as well. Thanks Mrs. Vicki!
World History- This Class is taught by Coach Timmerman. In this class we focus on major events in the world's history with a major focus on both world wars. We also work very diligently on note cards over controversial topics that are currently in the world and on projects that cover major past events, leaders, and places that are very important to remember. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (George Santayana). Therefore, if we do not learn from history, it will repeat itself. This justifies that despite these events being "outdated" we need to learn about them! Thank you Coach!
Algebra II- This advanced math class is taught be Coach Martin. Algebra II is mainly focused on variable equations, radical numeric conversion, and rational exponents. This is an advanced placement class and has challenged my math skills. I appreciate Coach Martin believing in me, and helping me understand this class. Thanks Coach!
English II/ Lit.- This advanced placement English and Literature class is taught be Mrs. Cantrell. In this course we have covered many famous classic novels, such as Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, Things Fall Apart, and To Kill a Mockingbird, we have read and discussed many plays such as King Lear and Our Town, we have enhanced our grasp on grammar, and focused on multiple poems. I have worked very hard in this class and have learned a lot from the interesting pieces of literature I have been exposed to this year. Thank you Mrs. Cantrell!
Spanish- This Spanish class is taught by Mrs. Engra. This is my first official foreign language class and I have greatly enjoyed it. With her help, I have learned hundreds of Spanish words and verbs, how to translate paragraphs from English to Spanish and vice verse, as well have have conversations in Spanish! Thanks Mrs. Engra!
AP Biology- This course has been by far my most challenging class I have ever taken. This course is taught by Mrs. Dean. It is a very strenuous college course that will require me to take an end of the year exam with the opportunity to gain college credits. I have learned a lot from this class other than Biology. I have learned how to study, manage my time wisely, and my critical thinking skills have been enhanced. I appreciate everything and all the time Mrs. Dean has put into this class! Thank you Mrs. Dean!
